Zürich is the largest city in Switzerland. It is located in the German-speaking North of the country, on the banks of lake Zürich. Kloten airport is the major hub for the entire country, and serves numerous locations domestically, within Europe, and overseas. You can fly to Zürich with Austrian Airlines from neighbouring country Austria. Zürich is well known for its banking industry. Hundreds of financial institutions are either based in the city, or operate subsidiaries and branches there. This makes the city a very affluent place, quite expensive for tourists and visitors, a fact one should be aware of when travelling here. However, Zürich is surrounded by great scenery, lakes, mountains, and has many historic buildings, especially in the city center. Furthermore, it also boasts a surprisingly active nightlife and vibrant culture for its relatively small size.
