Kazakhstan, Central Asias largest economy, is known to be rich in oil, gas and other mineral commodities. For tourists interested in the country's history, a trip south to the Golden Ring is recommended. This was the frontier between nomads and early settlements. The great trade routes from China through to Europe run through this area, including the Great Silk Road.
